5 Signs Your Car Needs Frame Straightening After an Accident

1. Uneven Panel Gaps
Stand back and look at the gaps between your hood, doors, and fenders. These gaps should be even and consistent all the way around. If you notice one side is tighter or wider than the other, or if a door doesn't close as smoothly as it used to, the frame may be out of alignment.
2. The Car Pulls to One Side
If your car drifts left or right when you're driving on a straight, flat road — even after a wheel alignment — the frame may be bent. A bent frame causes uneven tire wear and makes the vehicle handle unpredictably, which is a safety risk.
3. Visible Creases or Bends Under the Vehicle
Get low and look under your car, especially along the rocker panels and underneath the doors. Any visible creasing, buckling, or bending in the metal is a red flag that the frame absorbed impact force.
4. Suspension or Steering Feels Different
After an accident, if your steering feels loose, vibrates, or requires more effort than usual, this could point to frame damage affecting the suspension geometry. These issues tend to get worse over time if left unaddressed.
